Duties of Appointed Committees:

AUDIT/FINANCE COMMITTEE - The Audit/Finance Committee shall consist of 3 (three) members, appointed by the President of the Union.  After the committee is elected they shall meet and appoint a chairperson.  This committee shall serve until the President removes them from the committee or until they resign from the committee.  The purpose of this committee will be to conduct an internal audit as specified by the American Federation of Teachers.  A report on the findings of this audit will be sent to the American Federation of Teachers every year and will be filed within 6 months of the fiscal year’s end.  The committee shall meet once a month to verify the status of financial records.

 

SICK LEAVE POOL COMMITTEE - The Sick Leave Pool Committee shall consist of 3 (three) members, appointed by the President of the Union. After the committee is elected they shall meet and appoint a chairperson.  This committee shall serve until the President removes them from the committee or until they resign from the committee.  The purpose of this committee will be to oversee the distribution of sick leave days to members who apply for them.  The committee shall observe the guidelines outlined in Article XIX - Section 9 of the Master Contract agreed upon between the Union and the Board of Trustees, regarding the Sick Leave Pool. 

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE - The Staff Development Committee shall consist of 3 (three) members, appointed by the President of the Union.  After the committee is elected they shall meet and appoint a chairperson.  This committee shall serve until the President removes them from the committee or until they resign from the committee. The purpose of this committee will be to oversee the planning and implementation of staff development activities for the union members on the two planned staff development days in the fall and spring semesters.  Committee members will consult with the President about ideas and then coordinate an activity with The Center. 

 

NEW MEMBER LIAISON - 1 (one) person will be appointed by the president to familiarize new members with the union.  The duties of this position would be to welcome new members.  New members should receive introductory materials (provided by the IFT/AFT), along with a copy of the Paraprofessional Constitution, a copy of the Paraprofessional Contract, a list of officers/committee members, a union membership card to fill out, and instructions on where to send the filled out card.  The New Member Liaison should be on hand to answer any questions new members have concerning the union.  The person in this position shall serve until the President removes them from the committee or until they resign from the committee.

 

WEBSITE COMMITTEE - 2 (two) people will be appointed by the president to develop and maintain the LLC Paraprofessional Union website. This committee shall serve until the President removes them from the committee or until they resign from the committee.
